The Brief
The house benefited from being near to a stream, but the whole area around it needed a radical re-think; it was unattractive and felt unconnected. The stream was unmanageable due to weak banks.
The Solution
A deck was designed that would be at a lower level so that you could be nearer to the stream. The design allowed access from both the sunroom and the lounge doors. Lead facing was both contemporary and tied in with the lead on the roof. Bio-diverse planting will greatly enhance the bank area, while coir rolls are designed to give strength to the banks and allow plants to root through them. A glass panel is underlit and at night the ripples of the stream appear to be dancing on the glass in a magical way.
