The BriefThis small garden needed a clever design to make the most of its awkward shape. The family were keen to have an artificial lawn and wanted seating areas that could be flexible along with an area protected from light showers.
The area at the side of the house was not being used effectively and needed to be part of the design to draw people into the space, a pergola does this and as its rafters get closer together they provide the protection from the rain. Built in seating is jazzed up with bright colour paint chosen by the client to match a feature wall in their lounge. Planting adds interest while a large area for the children and dog to play are maintained. Overall the sophisticated design (which uses yellow granite paving from CED ltd) gives a contemporary look and makes the best use of every part of the space.
