The Brief
The back garden already had some hard landscaping but no planting to speak of and the front garden other than the driveway needed a total overhaul. The house was very contemporary, but the client wanted the planting to be naturalistic to soften the geometric lines of the house.
The Solution
Natural drifts of planting were created to complement the hard landscaping and the birch trees. Bamboo screens the fence and an additional patio added to catch the afternoon sun along with two poles to hang a hammock amongst the birch trees. The front garden took a modern theme of lines of slate running through grey cedec to a feature boulder, surrounded by woodland style planting. The overgrown shrubs on the boundary were removed and a smart row of pleached trees took their place, giving privacy whilst allowing a beautiful flint wall to be seen.
