The Brief
The clients wanted a sophisticated garden that they could relax in and were happy to get rid of the lawn. The existing patio was too small, and a small walled area had a well in but there were opportunities to enhance this area.
The Solution
An elegant garden design has a long pool as its main feature with a David Harber sundial as its focal point sitting on an understated Haddonstone pillar. A beautiful, handcrafted summer house from Stan Fairbrother sits tucked in a corner and provides a sheltered and private spot. The well has been enhanced by adding planting detail and a broad ring of stainless steel around it. This corner is further enhanced with lighting and planting consisting mainly of ferns. The pool is bordered with a row of three specimen Arbutus unedo with their interesting bark. Grey sandstone paving is used throughout with red brick detailing to tie in with the house. Box and yew hedging gives a structured feel to the planting and enhances this classical look.
